Ioana Cristodorescu
Born on 09.06.1999 in Galati, Romania.
Graduated in 2018 from ”Nicolae Tonitza” High School of Fine Arts, Bucharest with a certificate in painting.
In 2019 had a scholarship in Milano, Italy at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milano.
In 2021 had an internship in Berlin, Germany at Plan B Gallery.
Graduated from National University of Arts Bucharest Romania, Fine Arts.

Ioana explores various forms of expression in her art, including painting, graphics, textile techniques, sewing, sculpture, mosaic, digital art, and performance. She has participated in several artistic projects in Romania and abroad, as well as workshops and artistic residencies.
Through her stylistic approach, the artist aims to reflect the temperament of a world that seems so fragile despite appearances. Through her large canvases flooded with imaginary characters and everyday situations, she captures a "cinematic" world on the brink of self-discovery, stalked by vices and opulence. The linear style that keeps the viewer on the surface and the colors that clothe the object serve a glamorous world on the verge of vulgarity. The same style is reminiscent of the sketches of fashion designers or the scenography of theatrical and film costumes.
Stylistically circumscribed to German expressionism, through the force of the line, large cuts, broken lines, and angular figures, Ioana Cristodorescu's works express the reality observed from the surface: people posing and being posed. The vitality and alert, expressionist spirit, in a constant search, dialogues with the rapid and confident gesture present in most of her works. A strong drawing, with broken planes and firm lines, builds her composition. The artist creates this subtle, balanced interplay between drawing and color, in harmony with the chromatics.

Ioana Cristodorescu is an artist who explores various forms of artistic expression, blending figurative and abstract elements to create a unique and highly personal style. Through her works, she invites viewers to explore the complexity and fragility of the world we live in, to reflect on their own emotions and experiences, and to embrace the beauty and mystery of life.
